Compliance and partnerships

As part of efforts to strengthen compliance and partnerships in Malawi’s cannabis value chain, today the Director General of the Cannabis Regulatory Authority (CRA), Mr Chris Chaima Banda, together with members of the Management Team, toured CBG Limited in Area 43, Lilongwe.

The tour provided an opportunity to appreciate CBG Limited’s contribution to Malawi’s emerging cannabis value chain and to share the Director General’s vision for the sector.

CBG Limited is one of the off-takers supporting smallholder farmers and is engaged in the extraction of active pharmaceutical ingredients from THC cannabis for pharmaceutical applications.

During the tour, the Director General emphasised the importance of operating within the law and maintaining proper documentation and approvals from the Cannabis Regulatory Authority. He further stressed that compliance is not optional and that operators who fail to meet regulatory requirements will face appropriate enforcement action in accordance with the law.
