The Parliamentary Cluster Co-Chair on Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development, Natural Resources and Climate Change, Honourable Antony Kamoto, led a high-level delegation on a field visit to selected licensed medicinal cannabis and Industrial hemp operations. The delegation included Members of Parliament, CRA Board of Directors, and Management. The visit was conducted in collaboration with the Board Chairperson of the Cannabis Regulatory Authority, Mr. Chauncy Mopho Jere
The field visit aimed to provide firsthand insight into licensed operations, regulatory procedures, and opportunities within the medicinal cannabis and industrial hemp sectors. The delegation toured Sigelege Farm in Mitundu, MMC Laboratories in Mbadzvi, Invegrow, and Pollen Farm.
Honorable Antony Kamoto commended CRA Board and Management for the tremendous work in the sector and pledged continued Parliamentary support. Mr. Chauncy Mopho Jere expressed appreciation and reaffirmed CRA’s commitment to delivering its mandate and supporting the Government’s economic recovery agenda. He also encouraged licensees to invest in seed production to ensure small-scale farmers have access to affordable, high-quality, and high-potency planting materials.
The visit highlighted the sector’s growing contribution to economic development, job creation, and sustainable growth in Malawi.
