Cannabis Regulatory Authority Board briefs Minister

Board members of the Cannabis Regulatory Authority of Malawi paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development, Roza Fatch Mbilizi. The purpose of the meeting was to update the Minister on the progress the board has made since commencing its work and operations.

After receiving the update, the Minister advised the board to clearly understand its mandate, develop a strategic plan for the Authority, and restructure the institution to ensure it has the appropriate staffing.

She also emphasized the need to invest in the sector so that the cannabis industry can meaningfully contribute to the country’s foreign exchange earnings. Chairperson of the Authority, Chauncy Mopho Jere, acknowledged that the institution is currently facing several challenges. However, he assured that the board remains committed to working diligently to strengthen and grow the cannabis industry in Malawi.
